Time your Downswing - Often, the timing of movements of the upper body(shoulders, chest and arms) does not blend with that of the lower body (hips and legs).  Many amateurs move their hips and legs too fast on the downswing.  This leaves the hands and arms behind so the clubface is open, resulting in a push or a slice.  Some golfers throw their hands too quickly so the clubface moves too fast for the lower body.  It closes by impact and a hook or smothered shot results.  If you're leaving the face open, make swings with your hands and arms starting the club down while your body feels "quiet".  If your clubface is closed, start dwon by planting the left foot and sliding the left hip slightly toward the target.  The correct adjustment will aid your timing and help deliver a square clubface at impact.
